Sentry Tournament of Champions
Tournament: January 7-10, 2021
Post Date: January 3, 2021
The Sentry TOC has a pretty great field going to Hawaii. And for those of us just starting the Fantasy Golf year, this always poses a dilemma if you have limited picks for players. One thing that has changed over the years, and probably even more so now is that players are not playing a full schedule anymore. So sometimes it's about figuring out when they are playing and when it's best to use them.
For Buzz Fantasy Golf - the FREE LEAGUE - you get to use a player 8 times in the season. And in a small field event like this one (42 players), there will be a lot of people picking the same or similar line ups. You don't want to get too far behind in the first week!! In the league you pick 5 "regular guys" and then 1 double points guy for a total of 6 players for the week - you earn what they earn for the tournament.
The PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf is a bit different (of note, they are just starting Segment 2 so I've missed out on the first segment so I'm not going for any season long winnings!) In this format you can only use a player 3 times per SEGMENT. You get 4 players and 2 "bench guys" - if you don't like how one of your starters is doing you can sub in a bench guy, but that will count as one of your 3 starts. The scoring is also based on HOLE BY HOLE play - points for eagles, birdies, pars, and -1 for double or worse. Then there are also bonus points that can be earned depending on the event and shot link availability. At the end of the tournament each player will get one-tenth of the FedEx Cup points for the final finish. You kind of have to pay attention because you might not be getting points if a player is on the bench one or more days. So this is a league that you may need to pay attention daily to make sure your players are making the cut and how they are scoring.
For the BUZZ league you pick and you are on your own!! (I appreciate low maintenance!) I haven't seen anything yet for the NBC/Golf Channel League.
I'll be back by Tuesday to give some insights.
I love golf and I love to write, so I can't think of anything better than having a happy place like this to write about golf to my heart's content. Thanks for joining me!
