It's the 2nd Annual Chipshot Awards!! A panel distinguished judges (me) have thought long and hard about the following categories and is giving a tip of the hat to some people, places, and things in the golf world that I happen to think are pretty darn cool. Without further ado... Favorite Golf Web Site other than Tees2Greens which is of course my Favorite!! - www.masters.org It's a repeat winner from last year! I was glued to it again this year - coverage of the par-3 tournament and streaming coverage on each day. I'm remembering back to Masters Sunday - I'm sprawled out on the couch, TV on and my laptop on a chair right by my head so I can watch some of the other players as they followed Phil and Tiger around for awhile. I had to watch Steve Stricker!! Overall, great info on the site. Honorable mention to: http://www.waggleroom.com/ and http://www.realwomengolf.com/

I thought it might be a good time to check out how I did on my predictions for the 2009 PGA Tour season. Back on January 6, 2009 I made the following guesses in italics (see the 2009 Predictions Thread in the forums): I think I can only improve from my predictions from last year - they were not good - This is a true story. I'm awful at making predictions, but there is something fun in getting the chance to guess right every once in awhile! Posted Nov 19 2009, 05:13 PM by Cathy Erickson
We've hit the downward slide into November, and normally we're may-be following Q-school (and if you aren't you should - there are some Great stories there!) - but good heavens, all you have to do is browse some golf news...like Tees2Greens very own Golf International posts...and you'll see some big time golf stories...and it's November!! My home course has been closed for just over a week now, but I have been fortunate enough to still sneak out, er, I mean get out, and play a few holes...this past Saturday was in the 50's and I lugged my bag around for a few hours and got 11 holes in before I needed to head home to get ready for a great concert. I had planned on playing on Sunday, too, because for some reason I thought it was going to be another mild day. It wasn't. Posted Aug 18 2009, 09:21 PM by Cathy Erickson
On Friday morning my sister in law and my 2 nieces escorted me to the golf course since my brother had to work in the morning. It was just after 8am when I arrived and I knew the players I wanted to see were on the back 9 first. I headed over to the 10th hole and there was already a full grand stand by the green and the fairway was at least 2 people deep. I tried to find a spot to watch at the green, but there wan't much close. The 16th green was right behind the 10th green, so I decided that I was going to find a good spot by the green and commit to being there for the morning. I figured it was a good 45 minutes before we'd see the first group come through, but we were entertained by watching Nick Faldo doing some sort of backstory on the fairway with Lake Hazeltine in the background. Thursday morning my brother and I were up and at the course by 9:00am (the parking pass was awesome!). It was another warm day in MN and the winds had already started to pick up. We checked out the pairing sheets and realized that all of the players we wanted to see were all on one side in both the morning and afternoon. We knew Tiger was on the back side and had just teed off, so we made our way to the green on the par-3 17th hole to watch for the morning. Posted Aug 10 2009, 09:58 AM by Cathy Erickson
When I talked to my brother this morning he said that Tiger Woods has already practiced at Hazeltine this morning - flew in from OH last night and was on the tee at 6:45am today. The PGA Championship has officially started! Up until this morning I didn't think I would be heading down to the Championship, but I was lucky enough to get some tickets by entering a contest online (Thank you Ryan & Waggle Room!). So now it looks like I'm going to head down for 2 days...YAY!! Posted Jul 14 2009, 09:30 PM by Cathy Erickson
My brain is jumbled with golf thoughts this week. I think I'm finally recovered from our great golf scramble last Friday. It was a terrific day! Well, except for the fact that we didn't win...again. My team battled hard and we ended up tied for first place (-15) but the scorecard playoff didn't go our way (which reminds me, next year, sudden death playoff!). But the sun was out, I got to spend the afternoon with some of my favorite golf pals (who can really hit the ball and Jason's putter was hot!), I heard lots of cheers and laughter, and we were able to help out our golf course and our high school sports teams. I call that a success! Posted Jan 01 2013, 09:27 PM by Cathy Erickson
Happy New Year friends…and happy 2013 golf season! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to a new year full of great golf! I faintly remember writing a “resolution” post about this time last year so I looked it up and read it. A year ago I appeared to be motivated, but as I look back at 2012, I hit more than my share of stumbling blocks…I am one of the 85% who generally failed. But not completely! And that’s what gives me hope once again as we start the 2013 journey. What I wrote a year ago makes sense, and the experts that know about goal making and being successful at it give us wise guidance. Small attainable goals, write your goals down, don’t give up, and find support – all good stuff! Posted Jan 08 2013, 12:11 PM by Cathy Erickson
It's a Tuesday and we still don't know the winner of the first PGA Tour event of the year. The wind and rain in Hawaii has delayed golf since Friday, but this shortened 54-hole event should conclude today. As of right now Dustin Johnson holds a 3-shot lead over Steve Stricker going into the last 18-holes. Hmmm, Sam Johnson's favorite player and my favorite player going head to head...this could get interesting! I just read that Stricker is in a lot of pain in his left leg, so this hilly course isn't exactly what the Dr. ordered, but hopefully he can hang in there (GO STEVE!!). |
AuthorWhen I found Tees2Greens website and forum I found a happy place. There were great people there and in 2009 they asked me if I wanted my own blog space. It was a dream come true!! The site is down now, but I was able to get all of my posts to be able to post here. I will always be grateful for all of the Tees2Greens folks!! ArchivesCategories
