Posted Dec 06 2010, 10:36 AM by Cathy Erickson Ah, the holiday season - it's that time where you may be trying to find that special golf gift for that special golf person, or you're a savvy shopper looking for some good deals for yourself! Tees2Greens very own super fitness contributor, Mindi Boysen, shared some great suggestions for some neat gear that can help you improve your game, but sometimes you just want a new pair of shoes!! My Mom is the one who taught me how to love a sale, so I find myself surfing out on the web for great deals on all kinds of golf related items. What I have learned over time is that you really do need to shop around if you have the time. Paying attention to shipping rates, discounts, and advertised prices can get you some awesome deals!
But before I go on, I do want to make a big plug for supporting your local pro shop or golf shop. Even though I'm all about the deal, I make it a point to set aside part of my golf budget every year for purchasing items at my own club or at other local pro shops I visit. Now let's see if we can find some deals! It's that time of year where you can get free personalization on all kinds of golf balls. The Pro-V's are on sale right now for $39.99 on just about every retail web site and you get them personalized. So with that being the case, you really need to check the shipping charges! Many sites are going with "flat rate" shipping for the holidays, or even a few are offer free shipping if you meet a purchase total. Right now I think http://www.rockbottongolf.com/ is the lowest flat rate at $5.00, but a few others are at $5.99 and $6.99 so if you can find other great deals on that site it might be worth it. It's worth it to shop around - every guy can use another nice golf shirt, so if you find one you like, Google or Bing it by putting in the name or item # and often times other golf web sites will pop right up. I have found some shirts up to $25 cheaper by just doing a quick search. Search every day! Right now there are a few web sites doing a "12 days of Christmas" sale, having new items up each day and it only lasts one day! I'm already regretting not getting a Callaway hybrid for $49 on Saturday on http://www.budgetgolf.net/. And watch for the freebies...some web sites are offering up gift items or extra discounts, but you need to remember to put in a coupon code - right now at Rock Bottom you can get a free dozen Nike Crush balls if you spend at least $75 - with their value at about $19.95, AND them having $5 fixed shipping, you might want to browse around. I did search for a Crush review (because I have never heard of them) and they seem like a decent ball. Also watch for banner ads on web sites offering deals...for example, often times when I'm on Tees2Greens, http://www.tgw.com/ will have $10 off if you buy $50 or more (over and above their sale prices!) - clicking on the link will give you the auto discount and you can still get the free shipping over $75! Check the clearance tabs...if you're looking for a nice stocking stuffer or white elephant gift for a party, check out the clearance tabs and sort by price...sometimes you can get some nice towels, socks, tees, or even golf balls for under $10.00. The off-season/end of season is also a great time to get some golf shoes! Great discounts on several sites right now. I believe in the theory that if you find a really comfortable shoe you should buy 2 pairs because by the time you need them again they won't be around. Sign up to get E-mails...I know, sometimes you don't want to get bombarded with junk mail, but often times you will get e-mail exclusive deals that won't show up on their site, or you may get a coupon code for special discounts. Check out the auction sites - Ebay and others can be great sources of awesome deals, but there is always the word of caution about counterfeit clubs and troubles with shipping depending on the seller. Pick a price, be strong, and don't get sucked into a bidding war! Chances are, whatever you are bidding on will come up again soon. Lots of retailers also have auction sites. Most on-line retailers can get all of you holiday goodies in plenty of time for Christmas, so get out and start surfing...Happy Shopping!! PS...watch for my Top 10 Holiday Golf Buys later this week in the forums! PPS...if you find any great deals out there PLEASE share them here or in the forums, Thanks! with no comments Filed under: Christmas, shopping

AuthorWhen I found Tees2Greens website and forum I found a happy place. There were great people there and in 2009 they asked me if I wanted my own blog space. It was a dream come true!! The site is down now, but I was able to get all of my posts to be able to post here. I will always be grateful for all of the Tees2Greens folks!! ArchivesCategories
