I find it so interesting that dates, milestones, or events give us the opportunities to clean the slate or start anew (I'm trying to avoid the dreaded new year's R-word). I cannot tell you how many times I've said, "next week I'm going to..." or "starting tomorrow I will..." My co-workers can attest to how many times I've said, "As soon as this project is over I'm going to get my life organized!". But as I sit here (so grateful that I'm able to blog after some technical issues), I must acknowledge that I've failed more times than I can count on so many things I had either hoped to accomplish or wanted to improve....both in life and golf. I remember saying last year that one of my goals for 2015 was to golf with as many different people as I could...all of the people I would see at the grocery store, or on social media, or even at the golf course who agreed we needed to find time to golf. I had a mental list of people and I was already excited about how much fun this would be! And while I had some AWESOME golf days with great friends, several of whom I had not golfed with before or it had been ages, there were many more that I didn't make happen. It never makes me happy to stay to someone, "we didn't golf enough together this year"...and I said that too many times in 2015.
So I'm going to renew my goal to golf more in 2016! One of my favorite things to do is play in golf scrambles...I'm beyond blessed to have an awesome circle of golf friends who give me the chance to have some of the best days of summer on the golf course. I'm already looking forward to 2016 events and helping local groups put on events at our local course. And then there's the Ryder Cup...I have been waiting for over 4 years for Team USA to represent at Hazeltine National in Minnesota!! I've been fortunate to have attended some great events in Minnesota, but there is something special about Team Play to me. Super excited that there is a practice round ticket in my future (Thank You Jeff!!!) and I'm going to keep praying that I might get the opportunity to see some of the actual matches live, too. I thought for a moment to say that I wouldn't buy any new golf shoes in 2016, but that may be one of the silliest things I've ever written. <smile> This one's going to be tough, but I hope to recommit myself to Fantasy Golf! I'll be doing my research since most of them will be starting in the next week or two, but I hope get set up on a few ( watch for a Fantasy Golf update this weekend!). I was glad to hear Yahoo is back up and running after they had published they wouldn't be doing Fantasy Golf this season...although I'm usually horrible about doing the weekly check-in on which players have made the cut. Sidebar: I still miss Kerplookee!! I'm smiling thinking about my friend Drew and I writing our weekly golf picks - oh the fun we had!! Let me just say, the heart wants what the heart wants. And I'm smiling again because golf makes my heart swell and reminds me how my life is more hopeful and more joyful because of all that it brings me. Bring it 2016!
