It's almost time for another day of turkey leftovers for me, but after seeing a friend had updated his web site, I got inspired to update mine. For the first time in I don't know how long, golf seemed to take a back seat to other things happening in my world. The year seemed to fly by and before I knew it I was pulling out the clubs from the back of my car for the winter. After getting rear-ended in May, my golf time was halted for awhile while my neck and back healed. By July I was feeling better, but other priorities were pushing ahead of golf, too. So while golf wasn't first on my list, I was still able to make time for some awesome days with great friends...and a few days with just some "me time" with the golf course I did try hard to keep up with Fantasy Golf Leagues, AND post our weekly predictions from an awesome crew of experts, but it soon became apparent that I just wasn't going to be able to keep up with it all. But the eternal optimist in me says... Let's give 2015 a try!!
PGA Tour golf on TV is often one of my favorite things to watch, but there didn't seem to be much time for that this past year either. As I looked back on the winners from the 2013-14 season, the Masters, the RBC (Matt!), and PGA Championship are about the only ones I remember. I did watch some of the Ryder Cup, but at times it was almost painful...more on that later. My favorite players still are Steve Stricker and Matt Kuchar, but I hear that one of my old favorites, Greg Norman, will be back as a commentator for Fox Sports this year - hmmm, interesting. Rory McIlroy was back in top form and Billy Horschel took home the FedEx Cup. JB Holmes, Geoff Ogilvy, Ben Crane, and Tim Clark had wins in 2014 after several years winless, and Bubba Watson took another Green Jacket home with him. In my world I played in some fun golf scrambles with great friends, made it to Giants Ridge and the Wilderness and enjoyed playing at my home course. I tried 3 Up Golf Balls for the first time and really liked them! I may or may not have purchased new golf shoes and I have a few new Titleist hats in my collection. As I look out the window I see more grass than snow on this Christmas day - it makes me just the tiniest bit hopeful that we may have an early start to our golf season, but I've done it before and well, let's just say no snow in December doesn't mean Mother Nature doesn't have snow plans later on. I still miss Q-school and I know I need to follow more LPGA golf! I'm looking forward to Erik Compton in his first Masters and I'm still going to wish for Steve Stricker's first Major, even with an abbreviated tour schedule again this year. I'm going to read more golf articles, get back on Twitter, and reignite my golf passion. there's no better time than now. It's time for Christmas dinner, but starting tomorrow, golf moves back up the priority list!! Merry Christmas!!
