Pro's Picks (3 Top Picks only this week with limited field)

Field for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions - PGA Tour

Chuck's
Picks:

Bill Haas is making his 4th straight appearance at the Kapalua plantation course and his worse finish during this stretch is 23rd. Haas has more than enough length to tame this 7,411 par 73 layout and I like his chances to contend this week.

Adam Scott has plenty of past success around this track. Scott was donning his Mercedes sponsor for 7th in 2004, 5th in 2005 and 2nd in 2007. Scott revived his game last year with his new caddie, Stevie Williams, on the bag and should definitely be in the hunt this week in Hawaii.

Jordan Spieth is making his first appearance in Kapalua but it would be a mistake to rule him out this week. Spieth had a very successful rookie season last year and has all the tools to improve in 2014. Spieth will enjoy this layout and should have no problem reaching the par 5's.

Drew's Picks:

Adam Scott-
Adam had a great 2013 and a fantastic post-season "down under."  I think his momentum will continue this year, predicting his ball will ride the Kapalua winds to a victory this week.

Dustin Johnson
Dustin is defending his title this week, and is the only one in the field to have won the HTOC.  Another momentum play early in the season after his first WGC win in November.

Chris Kirk
A bit off most people's radar, Kirk finished 7th in the HTOC in 2012. He's known to be a fast starter, last year he had a 5th and a 3rd in his first four starts.  I see at least a top 5 for Chris this week.

Jeremy's Picks:

Jordan Spieth - Never having played at Kapalua you may wonder why he is my top pick.  He was perhaps the hottest player on the tour the last half of 2013 and continued that through the HSBC in November with a top 20 finish.  He has proved over his rookie season that he does not have to have a lot of experience on a golf course to succeed.

Dustin Johnson - Johnson loves Hawaii, perhaps it is because he gets to hang out on the beach all day with Paulina Gretzky when not playing golf, who knows.  Regardless Johnson comes in as the defending champion and has proven that he can play in the wind, which is a must at Kapalua.

Brandt Snedeker - Sneds likes to get off to a hot start on the tour as can be seen by his early season results last year.  After having an entire off season to get healthy look for him to pick up where he left off prior to his mid-season injury last year.

Matt's
Picks:

 Matt Kuchar
Kuchar is a contender in any tournament he enters these days. He has played in this champions event three of the last four seasons, earning three top ten finishes. He placed T9 last season, T6 in 2011, and solo 3rd in 2010. In his last official event on Tour, Kuchar finished in a tie for 7th at the McGladrey Classic.

Dustin Johnson will be the returning champion this week at the Hyundai TOC. He is coming off a recent victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in November. Johnson has placed T16 or better in his last four trips to Kapalua. Last season Johnson ranked 1st in eagles, 2nd in driving distance, and 23rd in scoring average.

Harris English has been playing very well as of late. He captured his second career win in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and also dominated the Franklin Templeton Shootout being paired with Matt Kuchar. English is four of four on cuts made this season and ranks 2nd in scoring average. This will be his first trip to the Hyundai TOC.

Cathy's
Picks:

Matt Kuchar - I might as well start the year with a heart pick!   Kuchar finished T9 last year in the wind shortened 3-round event, so hopefully with a little better weather steady Kuch should do well here.

Dustin Johnson - Not only is he defending, DJ also has a win back in October in China.  Length is an advantage, and his confidence doesn't hurt either.

Brandt Snedeker - A 3rd place finish last year makes Sends a good pick to start out 2014.  He's had a good early season history in finishes, so I think he's a solid choice to be hoisting the trophy on Monday.

Well we all had a little bit different picks, but with the small field we ended up with the same points! We'll see what we can do at the Sony Open next week!! Check out the weekly standings here: http://bit.ly/19tvUwW
