Posted Jul 06 2010, 03:07 PM by Cathy Erickson It's golf scramble week in my little part of the world (my favorite golf day of the year!!), so my brain is going in a hundred different directions trying to make sure I remember everything I need to do before Friday. So I'm going to take a page out of Sam Johnson's repertoire and do some "scatter shooting" this week. First...LOVED Mindi Boysen's "rant" last week!! How funny was it that I refrained from my initial rant (about my favorite writer, Sam) and then here comes Mindi with a solid gripe about the lack of focus on fitness in golf. If you haven't read it yet, you should! It was such a great reminder to me that there are so many components to the game of golf. And I need to be honest, fitness isn't something I'd normally think about either (although I'm proud to say my new Wilson TRIO cart has been put to use several times this year!).
Sam Johnson rebounded (in my eyes) with his great post last week! As I've said countless times, I love reading "the story behind the story" and Sam didn't disappoint. Definitely in contention for my top 10 Sam posts of 2010! I also found a great new golf blog... http://www.theflopshot.net/. They just started posting a few months ago, but I thought the recap of their day at the US Open was fantastic. I hope you'll stop over. It was so great to see Bubba Watson win a few weeks ago!! Since I'm a lefty in just about everything but golf and curling, I've got a special affection for the south paws. And his emotional reaction brought me to tears, too. And that got me thinking...was there Bubba prediction for me this year? Why, yes, there was! "Surprise bright spots will be Vaughn Taylor and Brandt Snedeker. And the "other Lefty" who will have a great 2010 is Bubba Watson...he will be at the SBS in 2011 after a win this season." Thank you, Bubba!! I'm not sure what to make of Tiger Woods...or maybe what I mean to say is, I don't know what to make of what everyone else thinks about Tiger Woods. I have got to think that to date, 2010 has been a disappointment to Tiger. Each week he plays we get the same predictions and " you better watch out for Tiger" and really, he's just not there. So now of course we get to hear the non-stop, well, the Tiger of Old is "almost" there. I'm not sure I'm buying it anymore...but I'm sure we're going to hear about this for the rest of the season...sigh. And how about Christie Kerr? What a win at the LPGA Championship and a move to the #1 spot in the world!! Can this be the shot in the arm that US women's golf needs?? I sure hope so. We'll see what the US Women's Open brings this week. Over at http://www.kerplookee.com/ I paired up with another fantasy golf player (XTRALONGTEES, AKA Drew) to make weekly predictions in the Pro's Picks section. Turns out Drew is also from Minnesota!! After making plans to visit my nieces this past weekend, Drew and I made plans to meet and play golf - I had a fantastic time (even though it was HOT)! I love how golf can introduce you to such cool people. Even better was that my brother joined us, too! I'm still thinking about the birdies he had...we celebrated some great shots that day, and had a few laughs at some "others", too. Anytime you plan an outdoor function you are at the whim of Mother Nature. For the past month or so I have said a quick prayer that we get nice weather for our annual golf scramble which is this Friday. I've been reluctant to even look at the forecasts, but I finally did on Monday...and it looks GREAT!! What a huge relief. Our golf scramble is a day to celebrate the game, our golf course, and the golf friends who join us each year. I am once again playing with 4 of my favorite golf pals (who I do not see enough of) and I am determined to contribute more than I did last year. But what I love most is seeing everyone out on the course having a great time. It makes it all worth it. Time to pull out my things to do list for the week! PS - Happy 2nd Birthday Ce Ce and Sam! AuthorWhen I found Tees2Greens website and forum I found a happy place. There were great people there and in 2009 they asked me if I wanted my own blog space. It was a dream come true!! The site is down now, but I was able to get all of my posts to be able to post here. I will always be grateful for all of the Tees2Greens folks!! ArchivesCategories
